During their time in brooder care at Obsidian Roost, chicks receive more than just warmth and nutrition — they benefit from daily enrichment and socialization. We gently introduce them to a variety of safe, stimulating objects and sounds, and they’re regularly handled to ensure they grow into confident, human-friendly birds.
Chicks also experience supervised interactions with calm adults, children, and other animals on the homestead, building early resilience and reducing future fear responses. Our goal is to raise birds that are not only healthy, but curious, calm, and well-adjusted
$5 per chick, per week
