Our Hatching & Brooding Practices
At Obsidian Roost, we take pride in raising healthy, confident chicks from the very start. All of our hatching practices prioritize biosecurity, careful incubation, and ethical handling. Fertile eggs are collected daily and stored under optimal conditions before being set in calibrated, climate-controlled incubators. Hatchlings are monitored closely and supported through every step of their early development.
Once hatched, our chicks are moved to safe, species-specific brooders designed for their size and temperament. They receive daily care, including handling, enrichment activities, and supervised socialization with adults, children, and other animals. This early engagement builds trust, resilience, and gentle personalities.
